Forans Irish Pub has made its home in a building with a rich and diverse history. The structure dates back
to 1879 and was originally the Traub Bros. & Co. jewelry store. The Grand Trunk Railway began using
the building as a ticket office in 1910. In fact, legend has it that Harry Houdini had a magic shop in the
lower level of the building. The Metropole Hotel turned it into a bar in 1935 and it has remained a pub
ever since. Forans is a Michigan historical landmark and a truly unique place.
